Fuel Conversion
Reduce fuel costs, improve control and reliability, reduce maintenance
Converting fuel, from either coal or heavy oil to gas and diesel is a
major incentive for many boiler owners to upgrade. The key drivers are
not only the relative costs of the fuels themselves, but the
reliability, fuel handling and maintenance issues associated with each.
Fuel conversion support
Cochran can supply and install new combustion systems, control panels
and make any necessary modifications to the boiler pressure part and
tubes that may be required for the new fuel.
Fuel conversion options
Heavy oil to gas, diesel or dual fuel
Converting from heavy oil to gas reduces maintenance considerably,
can extend burner life and enhances plant availability. As well as
potential fuel cost savings, electrical savings can be made since fuel
tanks and lines no longer need to be heated. Running on cleaner fuels
means boiler cleaning expenses can also be reduced. Many of our clients
go for a dual fuel option, using diesel as a back up which allows them
to take advantage of lower interruptible gas tariffs that are available.
Convert coal to gas, diesel or dual fuel
Converting from coal to gas or dual fuel options means that large
coal handling equipment can be disposed of, freeing space. Cochran is
experienced in all aspects of coal boiler conversion,
from grate and ash system removal, pressure part modifications to
installation of new burners. Converted coal boilers usually have a much
improved steam output, often leading to a reduced number of boilers
being required.
Combustion Systems
Cochran offers the latest in high performance combustion equipment,
delivering excellent combustion performance, low noise and emissions,
with option for gas analysis and trim plus communications interfaces to
plant management systems and remote monitoring.
