New Engineering Apprentices for 2018

We are delighted to have taken on four Engineering Apprentices this year to continue to ‘grow our own’. All the Apprentices will work towards a Modern Apprenticeship at Dumfries & Galloway College, whilst getting hands on experience within the Factory. We are dedicated to our Apprentices and plan to take on more Engineering Apprentices in 2019.

The Macallan Distillery Opens using Cochran Steam

On June 2nd 2018, the new distillery at The Macallan launched the Edrington brand into an exciting new era. This development is spectacular and has created a local legacy for many generations to share. We are proud to say that we were involved from its infancy through their contractor Forsyths, liaising local man Neil Shanks. In October 2017, we completed Commissioning of the two x 15,880 kg/hr boilers complete with Equinox Burners and our Synergy control system as well providing them the 30,000 litre hotwell tank, size 7 blowdown vessel and flues to suit all.


Training

Cochran Train Boiler Operators in Hong Kong

As part of Cochran’s recent successes in supplying new boilers into Hong Kong we have recently undertaken two training sessions for our Hong Kong customers. Steven Johnstone visited Hong Kong and undertook training for Hong Kong Towngas engineers and technicians. Towngas has recently installed and commissioned six Cochran boilers at various sites and requested training to enhance the support it can provide to their customers. The programme included classroom theory and practical hands on training at site. Steven was assisted by Cochran’s Hong Kong based engineer, TK Cheung, in delivering the training.

Long Service Awards Presentation 2018

The annual employee Long Service Awards presentation was held in the Boardroom on Friday for David Tait (Service Engineer), 20 years, Dougie Crosbie (Utility), 20 years and Andrew Glendinning (Plater), 40 years (unable to attend). This was followed by a celebratory lunch at Powfoot Hotel. Pictured is Allan Shaw, Dougie Crosbie, John Riddell, David Tait and Graham Smith
