The aim of the Apprentice Electricion will be to support the electrical team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components. To develop skills and knowledge in industrial electrical systems, including control panels, sensors, motors, and low voltage equipment. To complete an approved apprenticeship program, including on-the-job training and classroom-based instruction, with the aim of becoming a qualified industrial electrician.
What is the role?
- Assist in the installation of electrical systems in boiler units and manufacturing equipment under the supervision of qualified electricians.
- Support routine and preventative maintenance activities on plant electrical systems, including motor controls, and instrumentation.
- Learn to interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Help diagnose electrical faults and assist with troubleshooting and repair processes.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment in line with company and legal standards.
- Record maintenance and repair activities accurately, maintaining proper documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in apprenticeship training, both on-site and at an external training provider.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Engage with team members, supervisors, and mentors to gain practical experience and improve technical skills.
- Carry out any other duties within the scope of the apprentice role as requested by supervisors.
What you will bring?
- A minimum of 5 National 5 passes including English, Maths and Physics.
- Good overall level of physical diversity.
- Willing to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Reasonable general fitness level required to undertake many of the processes.
- Willingness to attend Technical College.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Further Information...
- Standard working hours Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4.30pm with Fridays 8 am to 1pm with breaks at 9.30 am, and 12-12:30 pm.
- Salary will be as per wage agreement or national minimum wage depending on age and year you join. It it hoped the apprentice will complete a 4-year apprenticeship, however, it is possible to join from year two elsewhere.
