CNC Machinist

What is the role?

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team specialising in industrial combustion boilers. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.


This position is full-time, based in Newbie and reports to the Factory Manager.

Main Tasks Undertaken..

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines, including:
    • Asquith Gantry Mill
    • XYZ 100 HD Mill
    • XYZ Proturn
    • XYZ 320 LTY Lathe
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure accuracy in machining processes.
  • Program and edit CNC machine programs using G-code and conversational controls to optimize efficiency and precision.
  • Conduct precision machining operations to fabricate components used in industrial boiler systems.
  • Utilise measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to verify part dimensions and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and ensure compliance with workplace regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and quality control.

What will you bring?

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machine Operator in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling and mechanical processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code, Siemens, Fanuc or Heidenhain controls)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in precision machining
  • Strong numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to industry regulations
  • Previous experience in industrial boiler manufacturing or heavy engineering
  • Familiarity with hand tools, measuring instruments and machine shop practices
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
